Mark McGranaghan has over 35 years of experience in power system analysis and design. He is Vice President of Power Delivery and Utilization for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). He leads the teams responsible for EPRI's research to develop technologies, systems and practices in support of the Integrated Grid. Mark has helped EPRI restructure the distribution research program, coordinate EPRI research in the smart grid area with government and industry efforts, create the smart grid demonstration initiative, and increase the technical strength of the EPRI research team. He is also presently focused on expanding the EPRI international technical team and research coordination. Prior to joining EPRI, McGranaghan was Vice President at Electrotek Concepts and Manager at McGraw-Edison/Cooper Power in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Mark has Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering and Master of Science, Electrical Engineering degrees from the University of Toledo and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He is an IEEE Fellow and a recent recipient of the Charles Steinmetz award for contribution to IEEE standards. He was a member of the NIST Smart Grid Interoperability Panel Governing Board and he is the Vice-Chairman of the CIRED U.S. National Committee.
