Dr. Ashkan Kian has 25 years of R&D, Consulting and Software Development experiences in Smart Energy Grids, Power Systems Planning, Operations & Optimal Control, and Transactive Energy Markets by means of Blockchain. Ashkan has served as the CEO at I-EMS Group Ltd (2015 to present); Senior Data Scientist at Opus One Solutions (2016-2018); V.P. of Engineering at Genscape Inc. (2001 to 2002); Ashkan is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario, Canada and a Senior Member of IEEE; has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers; is the main inventor of two US patents about Smart Grid Software/SaaS. I-EMS group Ltd has two key projects in Ontario, Canada utilizing DERMS and Transactive Energy for EV-fleet as VPP for V2G services, and Cloud-based supervisory and model predictive control of smart inverter connected DER assets to cope with FERC order 2222.
