Daniel Payares Luzio is Project Manager - New Energy Solutions at National Grid. The NES group focuses on complex projects that integrate new technology, renewable energy, and customer centric research in order to create new business models and opportunities for National Grid to build the utility of the future. Daniel was Project Manager for the DSP (Distributed System Platform) REV Demo, creating the first of its kind distribution-level marketplace for energy. He was also the Technical Lead for the REV Community Resiliency Demo, working with partners from GE and Clarkson University to develop a hybrid-utility owned microgrid in Upstate NY.
In addition, Daniel participated in the design of the $70M MA Solar Phase III program, developing 14MV of solar generation in MA, while testing PV systems coupled with energy storage and tracking systems to extract more value from solar generation. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Simon Bolivar, and an MBA with Distinction from Hult International Business School, where he was Global Winner of the Hult Impact Challenge: a six month project with Philips Lighting to develop a circular economy business model.
